Our Team

  • Dr. Kara Prier, MD

    Joining the practice December 2025.

    Kara Prier, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to children ranging from newborns to teens. Dr. Prier’s journey in medicine began with her undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, and later went on to attend medical school at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Dr. Prier completed her residency at the University of Arizona.

    Dr. Prier’s medical training further fueled her dedication to serve her patients with the upmost kindness and respect. “I believe my role is to provide information, advice and support to parents and children to help be a part of raising a healthy, well-rounded child.” explains Dr. Prier.

    In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Prier enjoys spending her free time outside swimming, hiking, reading and gardening.

  • Dr. Ted Prier, MD

    Dr. Prier is a board-certified family physician providing care to patients of all ages, treating acute illness, injuries, and managing chronic illnesses. He emphasizes lifestyle measures as a primary means for managing

    Originally from Iowa, Dr. Prier attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE for both his undergraduate and medical education. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ where he also served as chief resident.

    Dr. Prier enjoys the relationships he develops with his patients and strives to provide high-quality and comprehensive care to patients of all ages.

    Outside of clinic, Dr. Prier is married and has 2 teenagers. He enjoys backpacking, mountain biking, and exploring Central Oregon with friends and family.

    Ashleigh Ford, PA-C

    Ashleigh is a lifelong Oregon resident who grew up in Bend. She attended University of Oregon where she received her undergraduate degree in Human Physiology, with minors in biology and chemistry. She then gained medical experience working in the St. Charles Emergency Department and at a local family medicine clinic in Bend before completing her Physician Assistant program at OHSU, where she graduated top of her class and received an award for academic excellence. After graduation she returned to Bend and has been working in family medicine ever since! 

    Outside the office she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and two dogs; as well as her extended family. Together they spend lots of time outdoors hiking, biking, skiing, camping, and taking advantage of all that Central Oregon has to offer.

    Katelyn Meithof - Receptionist

     Katelyn is the kind voice you hear on the phone when scheduling appointments with us. She's worked as the receptionist at Burket Family Medicine for 2 years. While this is her first time working in the medical and dental field, she brings years of customer service and administration experience to the office. Katelyn is originally from Salem but has lived in Bend for more than four years. When not at work she’s busy planning her next international trip or spending time with her nieces and nephew.

    Kayla Samano - Medical Assistant

    Kayla has worked in the medical field in Central Oregon since 2019, she joined our practice in 2023. Kayla has lived in Oregon for 12 years and counting. When she's not working Kayla is often enjoying the views from between her horses ears. Her experience and knowledge is a great asset here at Burket Family Medicine.

    Addie Lahey - Medical Assistant

     Addie grew up in Prineville and moved to Bend with her family when she was just 7. Addie enjoys spending time with her husband, family, friends, and puppy. She also enjoys camping and hunting with her husband around Central Oregon whenever she can. She started working as a grocery bagger when she was 16. Since then she has advanced her career over the years and she now works at Burket Family Medicine as a Billing Specialist, and part-time as a Teachers aid at a preschool.

    Stacey Schatz - Referral Coordinator

     Meet Stacey, our referral coordinator. She was born and raised in Bend and is a single mom of two awesome girls, Sky and Monroe. Sky enjoys riding horses and her other daughter; Monroe enjoys spending time with her friends and her mom. Stacey loves Bend and enjoys staying active to maintain a healthy body and mind. If she can do this while being outdoors and near a lake, she is the happiest. Stacey considers herself an ambivert and is passionate about people, her faith and adding to the overall goodness of humanity. 

     Stacey was a stay-at-home mom and ran her own clothing business out of her house while also working as a barista.

    Erin Mullis - Office and Billing Manager

     Erin has been the office manager for the practice since 2016 and she has filled several different professional roles for Dr. Burket since 2010. 

    To advance her medical career, she obtained her medical assisting certification in 2015, and her billing and coding specialist certification in 2017. She enjoys the many aspects of this job and environment, along with learning so many different useful and challenging skills. As a tier 3 Patient Centered Primary Care Home recognized practice it is her duty to ensure that the entire office maintains a balanced level of professionalism, standardized care, and one on one meaningful contact with our patients. 

    Erin has lived in Central Oregon since 1983 and even though she has lived in Madras and Prineville, Bend is where she and her family have made their home. She's been married to Ben since 1997. They have a daughter, Bailey and twins, Mason and Addison. As a family they enjoy camping, nature, and traveling with their many amazing friends that they have met over the years.
